4th of July Activities: Eastside Seattle Fireworks & Celebrations 2013
By: Coral Noyd ~ 6/25/2013

It's hard to believe that the time has come to start thinking about 4th of July activities.  What is traditionally a time for fun, family, and enjoying fireworks displays often can have some of our extended stay guest wondering how to celebrate while residing in short term housing.  For those who may be seeking information about local holiday entertainment, Between Moves has compiled the following list of Independence Day festivities near our Bellevue, Kirkland, and Redmond properties.  In addition, for our guests who want to experience the holiday on a larger scale, we have included information about the very popular Lake Union Fourth of July fireworks display in Seattle.

Bellevue -The Bellevue Family 4th celebration will be held at Bellevue Downtown Park beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing until the fireworks display at 10 p.m.   Events begin at 9 a.m. with a dog jog & walk and continue with plenty of activities throughout the day including a family fun zone and live music.  The fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.  wrapping up with a post fireworks youth symphony performance at 10:30.  It's worth noting that there will be free event parking at Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square, and Bellevue Place (all within walking distance) after 6 p.m.

Kirkland - Kirkland's long standing American 4th of July event is held at Marina Park.  The day long activities, which usually draw about 10,000 people, will begin with a kids parade at 11:30, leading into the annual patriotic parade at noon, live music in the park at 5 p.m. and the fantastic fireworks display over the lake at 10:15 p.m.  The website link above offers a map of the best viewing locations.

Argosy Cruise Kirkland - Argosy offers a holiday 4th of July fireworks cruise from 7:45-11:45pm.  The cruise leaves from Kirkland City Dock, Downtown Kirkland, and cruises over to Lake Union for the viewing of the annual fireworks display.  This Fourth of July fun on the water includes live music and snacks & beverages available for purchase.  This cruise fills up quickly and it's recommended to book early.

Carnation - The small town of Carnation, about 12 miles from Redmond, will again host its popular Independence Day Celebration.   This charming rural community will welcome thousands of people for a much anticipated, family centered day chock full of activities.  Scheduled events start at 7 a.m. with a 5k run and continue throughout the day until the firework show at dusk.

Newcastle - Newcastle will be hosting its annual Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration at Lake Boren Park.  The festivities of food and fun will begin at 6 p.m., live music at 8 p.m., and the fireworks display will top off the evening at 10 p.m.

Sammamish - Fourth on the Plateau in Sammamish is one of the largest Fourth of July fireworks shows hosted on the eastside.  For our Redmond guests, Sammamish is about 6 miles from downtown Redmond.  This celebration of music, food, and fun starts at 6 p.m. at the Sammamish Commons and the fireworks begin at 10 p.m.

Seattle - The Seafair Summer Fourth is the continuation of Seattle's Annual Lake Union 4th of July fireworks celebration.  This very popular event is held at Gasworks Park in Seattle and has been named one of the top displays in the country by Time magazine.   The fun begins at noon and continues until 11 pm.  The event includes live performances, contests, kid's activities, a beer garden, and much more throughout the day and leading up to the fireworks display at 10:15 p.m.
